Larwood Bridge PDF  | Print |

Larwood BridgeLarwood Bridge was built in 1939.  It is a Howe truss design spanning some 105 feet over Crabtree Creek at the confluence of Roaring River.

This is the only place in the country where a river flows into a creek, an oddity noted in Ripley's Believe It or Not.

The bridge features rounded portals and a white washed interior. Near the western end of the span one can see the remains of an old millrace and associated equipment.

The community of Larwood was founded by William Larwood, who settled here in 1888.  He built a store, a blacksmith shop and operated a Post Office from 1893 to 1903.

Roaring River fish hatchery is only a mile or so upstream, and offers the chance to view trout weighing as much as 15 pounds each.

The Larwood Bridge wayside is a popular spot for picnickers, swimmers and fishermen.
