Gateway Farm is developing a diversified small farm, using sustainable practices, using alpacas as a central theme.

Founded in 1996, John and Susan have played an active role in the development of the alpaca industry in the United States.  John has served as a Director and Officer of the State of Jefferson Alpaca Association, and as President of the Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America, and committee assignments for the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association.

Gateway Farm has developed a clear set of goals and objectives, believing that alpacas offer owners a real option for living a rural life while generating sustainable income.

In addition to alpacas, visitors will find heritage breed chickens, perhaps a couple of cattle in the spring, and fruit and produce in season.

Susan is in the early stages of further development of the produce production, desiring to expand this area of operations using the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model.
