Shimanek Bridge is closed for maintenance work in late September and early October.  The south end of the bridge may be reached via Richardsons Gap Rd.

Alternatively, the north end of the bridge may be reached from Shimanek Bridge Dr.

In either case, tour route visitors will need to return to Hwy 226 to continue the route.
