Broken Dam, on Thomas Creek, marks the original location of the Jordan covered bridge.

The dam once provided electricity to the town of Scio, several miles downstream.  It also marks the one time location of a cheese factory, two mills and a general store.

Today the dam is a favorite swimming hole for area residents.  The waters of Thomas Creek, flowing down from the heights of Snow Peak, form a wide, calm and deep pool behind the remains of the dam, and the sun creates water warm enough to be comfortable, yet cool enough to provide escape from the hot days of late summer.

It is easy to imagine pioneering people driving their old Fords across the bridge before it was moved, looking down on the dam and the small, bustling community surrounding it.
